Technical Development, Design & Site ExecutionNestled within a dense maritime forest, Casa KAI is conceived as a compact yet porous volume that balances privacy and openness. The project is organized through a strong stone plinth that anchors the house to the terrain, creating a solid base for the light, horizontal concrete and wood volume that hovers above. The upper floor opens entirely to the surrounding canopy through full-height glazing, while the lower level remains more introspective, sheltered by a continuous stone enclosure.
The material palette—composed of local stone, exposed concrete, and timber—reinforces the architectural contrast between weight and lightness, opacity and transparency. Circulations are articulated both internally and externally, with an open stair stitching together both levels and promoting a continuous dialogue between built space and landscape. Casa KAI emerges as a synthesis of tectonic clarity and contextual responsiveness, where form, materiality, and site-specificity operate in perfect equilibrium.
